Austin City Limits was worth it

Posted in Music, Social Situations on September 19, 2007 by Kim

ACL was worth the money. The bands where awesome. It was hot but Barton Springs was there to cool us off. The entire event was very well organized. You never waited longer than 1 minute for a beer and 2 minutes for food. The porta potties where clean and there was always hand sanitizer every where. The amount of people amazed me… People where so tame and happy which to me could have never have been accomplished in Houston. Props to Austin, the people, and the bands for making this event ROCK beyond belief.

Out of the concert these where the shows that I loved:

  1. Queens of the Stone Age – Amazing energy and rock
  2. LCD Soundsystem – I found a new love
  3. Bjork – first song was like OMG then boring
  4. Stephen Marley – loved every bit of it
  5. Arctic Monkeys – super chill and awesome
  6. Common – wish it was more old skool
  7. Joss Stone – perfect sounds and vocals… so sweet to my ears
  8. Regina Spektor – Her sweetness made me shed a tear. Love her!
  9. Spoon - missed this one :(
  10. Muse - freaking cool tunes here… amazing preformance

If you love music and you can forget the heat, then I highly recommend Austin City Limits to anyone.

Debra Ford Speaks out on Gorilla Marketing for the Houston Zoo

Posted in Marketing, Social Media, Social Situations, Social Software, Technology on September 12, 2007 by Kim

Have you seen your Houston Zoo lately? Well you should!

Today Debra Ford gave a presentation for the AMA on Gorilla Marketing for the Houston Zoo. As the account manager for the last year and a 1/2, is was good to know that Schipul and Tendenci have been part of a 10% increase in gate sales.

First the Houston Zoo Blog then the Houston Zoo web site re-design and who knows what will be next. Hopefully more fun interactives that will promote the venue spaces at the Houston Zoo and generate more $$$.

Thanks to Ed Schipul for allowing us Schipulites to attend the AMA luncheon and pay our respects.

Schmap is using my image

Posted in Photography, Social Media, Social Software, Technology, Travel on September 9, 2007 by Kim

Schmap is a new world wide travel guide that uses an interactive map with real images. Schmap’s had the great idea of using flickr and other social photos sites as there resource to find photos from around the world. They found my photo of Barton Springs pool through a flickr search and then used it on the Schmap. They did give me credit below the images as well. Check out Schmap’s as your desktop guide for finding the places you want to go.
